Product Technologies

We are responsible for what happens to our products and how they are produced.

Here you will find all the technologies we implement. We continue to work for even more.

ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE TECHNOLOGIES:

Earth Approved Leather/ Regenerative Leather

This leather comes from farms that follow a holistic approach to agriculture for soil regeneration. By promoting beneficial cattle movement on grass, farmers rest the land so it can absorb carbon, retain water, and restore biodiversity. Proper grazing practices help plants take carbon from the air and put it into the soil.

Earth Approved Wool

We use natural merino wool collected from sheep raised on farms that use farming practices that help build healthy soil.

Better Leather

Environmentally responsible leather sourced from a tannery rated "Silver Rated" or "Gold Rated" by an independent environmental auditing authority for its environmental protection practices during the dyeing process regarding water, energy and waste management.

TimberGrip™

TimberGrip™ technology is one of our best anti-slip technologies, which is even made from natural ingredients. We take natural resins created from pulp waste and combine them with natural rubber to create outsoles that will help you maintain your grip.

TimberDry™

The TimberDry™ membrane makes your footwear 100% waterproof while also protecting the environment, as it is made from 50% recycled plastics.

Responsible Natural Rubber

Our sustainable natural rubber is not a product of deforestation. We source it from organized rubber plantations, thus helping to protect wildlife biodiversity and the rights of indigenous populations.

LITE™ Leather

Leather dyed using a process that limits water and energy waste for less environmental impact.

Recycled Leather

Recycled leather is made from leather fibers resulting from product waste streams. It is created from a paper-making process that gives it a unique aesthetic. It comes in a roll, which means there is less waste in creating new products and less waste.

Recycled Rubber

The soles are made from 34% recycled rubber, offering comfort and durability, while reducing Earth pollution.

PrimaLoft® ECO Insulation

Stay warm with eco-friendly PrimaLoft® Eco Insulation technology. It keeps you warm with very fine fibers that are made from 60% recycled plastics.

Community Cotton™

With the need for sourcing, in collaboration with Haitian farmers, we created a material that is lightweight and breathable and we call it Community Cotton™. In this way, we support the communities that cultivate it - and the land where it grows.

GreenStride™

By replacing 75% of petroleum with natural ingredients sourced from sustainably managed forests (such as sugarcane and natural rubber from trees), the ecological footprint was reduced and one of the best experiences of ecology and comfort ever invented was created. These materials are converted into a natural, full, comfortable foam that we put in our shoes to reduce the impact on your body. GreenStride™ soles have 7% higher rebound than typical EVA material.

Tencel™ X Refibra™

This lightweight, durable, breathable fabric keeps you dry and cool. It is made from 70% sustainable eucalyptus wood pulp and 30% recycled cotton from production waste.

Organic Cotton

Feel good wearing Timberland® products made with organic cotton, without genetically modified seeds, synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.

Solucell Air

The fabric is made from 100% cotton and is specially designed so that an air channel within each thread traps heat, allowing the fabric to be light, soft and warm without the use of chemical processing.

Moisture Wicking

A fiber that helps absorb moisture from the body by drawing it to the outside of the fabric. The fabric dries quickly after getting wet and gives a dry and comfortable feel to the skin.

neoVENT-S

neoVENT-S weather protection is an innovative technology that makes thin and lightweight fabrics water resistant. A thin coating is applied to the fabric to keep moisture away without weighing down the fabric or removing its natural softness, while remaining cool.

Finally, the tongues and zippers undergo a waterproofing process that makes the footwear 100% waterproof.

Defender Repellent Systems®

Our footwear has been treated with a special formula that repels certain liquid elements and water-based stains, so your favorite shoes can last as long as you love them.

Quality control steps after waterproofing applications on shoes:
